Abstract

Purpose : This study was conducted to explore the fundamental structure and meaning of communication experience
with nurses of hospital employees.
Methods : The analytical, phenomenological research method of Van Manen was applied, and research participants were 7 employees who worked at a general hospital. The period for data collection was from July, 2018 to Sep, 2018.
Results : 8 fundamental subjects and 23 identified subjects were derived. The 8 fundamental subjects are ¡®Communication in the hospital environment becomes increasingly difficult¡¯, ¡®As employees know the nurses¡¯ hard work, they try to understand them¡¯, ¡®Nursing organization culture appears to be a stumbling block to communication¡¯, ¡®As it¡¯s hard for nurses to form a relationship, the communication is more difficult¡¯, ¡®Emotions are piled in a neglected conversation¡¯, ¡®The mind moves due to a small part¡¯, ¡®Nurses¡¯ own efforts are urgently needed¡¯, and ¡®The supportive efforts at the institutional level are required¡¯.
Conclusion : Through this study, it was confirmed that though the nurses¡¯ own efforts, institutional and governmental efforts, such as the improvement in working environment which can reduce the burden of excessive
work. The results of this study indicate there is a need to develop an effective commmunication education
program for nurses with hospital employees.
